Countrywood PTA is proud to participate once again in NYS PTA's Pick a Reading Partner (PARP) program. "Saddle Up and Read!" is the theme for this year's PARP Week (2/4-2/8/19) at Countrywood. PARP is a statewide program with the goal of inspiring Parents and Reading Partners to read together with their children for at least 15 minutes daily. We hope you find the resource information and ideas in this Blog useful as you get the most out of reading with your child. Enjoy!
It was a successful first day of PARP Week. Day 1 has been very busy...
This morning, not one but TWO Wonder Women greeted students as they walked in to the building.
Students, teachers, and staff alike wore something superhero-themed for our first In-School activity, "Calling All Superheroes."
We had 6 Guest Readers visit during Library Specials.
Students were busy during Library Special coloring in Random Acts of Kindness Library Notes to hide in books around the school library.
The students were thrilled to see their teachers' favorite books on display outside the library.
Today's giveaway received by ALL Countrywood students was a superhero bookmark with motivational messages.
Today's PARP Giveaway!
We awarded a prize to the student who's Riddle of the Day was chosen randomly from all riddles submitted today. Can you guess the answer? "Why do seagulls fly over the sea and not the bay?...Because if they flew over the bay, they'd be bagels!!!"
One class with the correct answer was chosen randomly from all correct class answers submitted. Each student in the winning class was awarded a prize.
We are off to a great start. There's a lot more fun in store this week. Don't forget tomorrow is "D.E.A.R." - Drop Everything And Read!!! Children may bring in a book from home to read during this time! We hope you will encourage your child to participate. Happy reading!!
